In collaboration with the Santa Fe Convention and Visitors Bureau; Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino; Glenn Green Galleries featuring artists George Rivera, Kenji Yoshida, and Khang Pham-New; and Rekow Designs LLC of Albuquerque, Trend magazine is pleased to announce the inspirational Trend Lounge to be held at the 14th Annual Los Angeles Art Show from January 21 to 25. Formerly held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, the LA Art Show is moving downtown to the city Convention Center in order to meet its phenomenal growth as a major art event.
TREND Lounge
Trend magazine and several partners bring New Mexico live to LA in a vivid reflection of the brilliance of our art, design and architecture. Each sponsor will have a display area in the booth. Together, we will inspire international art collectors to preview the best of Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Taos art and design as well as to learn more about the profound depth and histories of our arts communities.
Trend magazine has acquired a highly coveted lounge area to the immediate far right of the entrance to the show (a 70’ X 24’ booth, valued at $65,000) during the LA Art Show at the downtown Los Angeles Convention Center. There are only three such areas at the show—and the other two lounges are in the middle and the back of the hall. Several of Santa Fe’s best galleries will also have art booths at the LA Art Show—some investing up to $35,000 in booth fees alone—based on the past success of this world-class art show. The LA community of artists, museums, galleries, and art fairs is vying to become the number one art market in the country, with citywide art events, VIP dinners, television promotion, and three major art fairs in LA in January. January is the month to be in Los Angeles!
The goal of the Trend Lounge is to collaborate with its community in New Mexico to create a place of relaxation and inspiration at the LA art show. The Trend Lounge has been conceived with a cutting-edge contemporary look strategically planned and executed by Santa Fe and Albuquerque designers, architects, artists and visionaries. Visitors to the lounge can enjoy reflective light from the Galaxy installation by Taos artist Robin Stanaway, working with
Santa Fean Steven Alverson, designer, builder and artist with Signature Craft LLC, on his project Voyager that generates a sound experience of sacred geometry. Martin Horowitz, Stacey Neff (courtesy Linda Durham Contemporary Art), Olga de Amaral (courtesy Bellas Artes Gallery), Pojoaque Pueblo governor and artist George Rivera (courtesy Glenn Green Galleries), Helmut Lohr and others lend their art to the lounge for visitors’ enjoyment. To promote a sense of relaxation and entertainment, the Trend Lounge will amp up its media room in collaboration with Albuquerque designer Beth Rekow of Rekow Designs LLC. Rekow brings her expertise to an innovative intersection of light, design and furniture in a fusion of contemporary and traditional design principles.
Two High-Resolution state-of-the-art Blue Ray Films in the Lounge
In association with Tendance Productions, Trend magazine has produced a loop of two short films featuring Santa Fe art, design and culture, to be shown during the LA Art Show at the Trend Lounge. One film features scenic vistas: sunrises and sunsets magically lighting architectural details, merged with Trend magazine covers and graphics, including images from art collectors’ homes and magnificent gallery tours. The second film highlights Santa Fe artists and their galleries. Individual loops of each film will run continuously on two 42-inch high-definition flat screens in a video studio within the Trend Lounge’s media room. Filmed participants are Glenn Green Galleries in its scenic Tesuque setting, Edwina and Charles Milner’s home and art collection, and Canyon Road during the celebrated Christmas Eve farolito walk. Also included are artists Doug Coffin, Star York, Susan Contreras, Roxanne Swentzell, and George Rivera; the infamous Old Man Gloom, Zozobra, makes an appearance on film as well.
If you have any further questions regarding the Trend Lounge, please contact Cynthia Canyon, Owner/Publisher of Trend magazine directly at 505-470-6442, or by email at cynthia@santafetrend.com.
